Griffith University

STUDENT SERVICES

What can we help you find?

    Become a student representative

Student representatives play a vital role in shaping decisions at Griffith. You’ll bring student perspectives to the table and help build a positive, inclusive university community.

Expressions of interest and nominations are now open for a variety of committees.

This is your chance to contribute directly to decisions that shape the student experience. Check out the information below to find the role that’s right for you and get involved.

    Why become a student representative

As a student representative, you will share your voice and insights on key issues, collaborate with staff and fellow students to drive change, and contribute to decisions that impact student life, policies, and the wider university

Along the way, you’ll also grow your professional networks, build valuable skills, and make a real difference at Griffith.

    Selection process

The recruitment process for committee vacancies is usually held between August and October each year. There are, however, occasions when we recruit for vacancies at other times, for example, when a student committee member graduates.

Each committee may have different requirements around the number and type of students they are looking for and these will be outlined in current vacancies.

    Types of positions

Appointed positions follow an Expression of Interest process. Your application will be reviewed by the Committee Chair (or their delegate) and they may contact you for an informal discussion, should they need further information to assess your application.

When reviewing your application, they will assess:

    • if you are currently enrolled and eligible
    • if you are in good academic standing
    • whether you have any current or previous conduct concerns
    • your genuine interest in contributing as a student voice on the committee

Some positions have additional criteria. For example, you may need to be studying within a specific academic group, at a certain level of study or be from a specific cohort (such as an being International student or a First Nations student).

Vacancies for appointed positions are listed below.

Elected positions are filled through a nomination and voting process. The Returning Officer will call for nominations, then provide details of the voting process and timelines once nominations close.

Voting is conducted via e-ballot and successful candidates are appointed for a set Term of Office.

The next round of student elections will open soon.
