What can we help you find?

    Conferral dates

Your conferral date is when you officially graduate and have your degree awarded. This date may not be the same date as your graduation ceremony because conferral can happen during a ceremony round or non-ceremony round.

For ceremony rounds, please be aware, graduation ceremony dates can only be confirmed once the venues have guaranteed their availability. While we appreciate the importance of knowing confirmed dates with as much notice as possible, the confirmation of dates is outside the University's control and we have, in the past, had instances when the venues have changed our dates with less than two months' notice from the original, tentative dates. For this reason, please follow the Caution (see below) regarding making early arrangements.

If you are conferred in a non-ceremony round, you will have your hard copy testamur (degree certificate) mailed to you and access to your digital graduation documents will be available within one business day of your conferral. This also applies if you are conferred in a ceremony round, but do not attend your ceremony.

If you are conferred during a ceremony round and you attend your ceremony, you will receive your hard copy testamur at the event and access to your digital graduation documents will be available within one business day of your conferral.

Dates for our 2026 Conferral Rounds will be updated here as they become confirmed.

Ceremony round on the Gold Coast^

    * Students conferred in a non-ceremony round will be invited to the next available ceremony round.

^ Online and Offshore programs will be assigned to either Brisbane or Gold Coast ceremonies, based on venue capacity. Details of your specific graduation ceremony will be sent to you when registration opens.

Caution: Making travel arrangements and/or purchasing guest tickets for a coming ceremony is done at your own risk if you do so before:

    1. the ceremony is confirmed
    2. you either have a myGraduation status of 'Approved' in myGriffith or you were conferred in a non-ceremony round# and
    3. you have registered to attend your ceremony.

Those who do not have a myGraduation status of 'Approved' by the specified deadline (or have not recently graduated) cannot participate in a ceremony, regardless of any travel arrangements or ticket purchases for themselves or guests.

    # Graduates conferred in a non-ceremony round do not need to check for an 'Approved' status before registering for a ceremony because your Award has already been conferred.

Higher Degree by Research candidates are conferred year-round, not at set dates, so the below table contains ceremony dates only, not conferral dates.

Upon receiving confirmation of your conferral from the Griffith Graduate Research School, the Graduations Office will process and issue your testamur and official academic transcript within approximately two weeks. Longer times apply in ceremony months.

If you are conferred within four weeks of the next round of graduation ceremonies, you will not be eligible to attend those ceremonies. This is due to the timing of ceremony preparations and eligibility cut-off dates, which are set to ensure a smooth and inclusive event for all graduates.

Your ceremony invitation will be sent to your University communication email address, and your Alumni email address if you have one recorded in myGriffith, when registration opens. Invitations are usually sent in late May for mid-year ceremonies and in late October for end-of-year ceremonies.

Higher Degree Research graduates do not need to check for an 'Approved' status in myGriffith because the Graduations team is only notified of your eligibility after your Award has been conferred. It is only undergraduate and postgraduate students who need to check their myGraduation status because they are identified for a graduation check before they have completed their studies.

Staff member attending as a graduate

If you are also a Griffith staff member, please ensure you complete the student registration process via myGriffith, not the staff registration process. You will not be able to attend as a graduating student if you do not complete the student registration process by the deadline shown in your STUDENT invitation. Email replytograduations@griffith.edu.au if you are unable to find your student invitation.

If you register via the staff registration pages, it will only allow you to attend in your capacity as a STAFF member, either on stage or in the audience.
