    At Griffith, we believe that everyone’s experiences and talents are valuable. That's why we’re committed to ensuring equal access to education for anyone who wants to learn.

    We offer scholarships providing financial support to a wide range of students so that they have the additional support they need to succeed. Whether you are an academic high achiever, an elite athlete, have experienced educational disadvantage or hardship, or simply need help with relocating for study, there’s a good chance you could be eligible.

    Scholarships provide financial support while you study, allowing you to focus more on your learning. You’ll also get more out of your university experience through exclusive networking events, meeting mentors and developing job-ready skills.

    Scholarships application process

    Scholarship application rounds open 1 July each year. To ensure you’re considered for all the scholarships you might be eligible for, we recommend you apply annually. Once submitted, your application will remain current until 30 June. If your application is successful, we’ll email you.

    Please note that applying for a scholarship is separate to applying for a place at university. If you have not done so already, you will also need to apply for admission into your chosen degree.

    One application for all scholarships

    There’s no need to apply for individual scholarships. Simply submit the form once each year and you’ll automatically be considered for all of them. Use the filters to check out scholarships associated with your study program or personal circumstances.

    Answer

    The higher degree by research (HDR) application closing dates can be found under the entry for each program via Griffith's degree finder. 
     
    If you want to apply for a research scholarship, please view our Research Scholarships website for application dates and to search for scholarship opportunities. 
     
    If you’re applying for admission only, you can submit your application at any time.
     
    If your application is approved, an offer will be issued for commencement in one of the next two available research intakes (or for the next Trimester for programs that include coursework).

    If you lodge a higher degree by research (HDR) scholarship application without all of the required information, we will email you to let you know what is outstanding.
     
    If you have not provided the information by the published closing date on our Key Dates page, your application will be withdrawn and will count as one of your two scholarship application attemps in five years.

    Yes. In order for your application to be considered for a higher degree by research (HDR) scholarship, you must be able to provide evidence of meeting the University’s English language proficiency (ELP) requirements. You can check the English language requirements for your HDR program on the degree finder.

    If you do not provide ELP evidence, you will not be considered for a scholarship. Your scholarship application will be withdrawn and will count as one of your two scholarship application attempts in five years.

    You may apply for admission only (admission with no scholarship) without providing evidence of meeting the ELP. If you meet admission requirements, you will be issued an admission offer that is subject to meeting ELP prior to enrolment. You may like to explore the English pathway options offered by Griffith University at this time.

    International candidates need to meet any conditions of the offer by the specified due date to receive a Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE). Once you have your CoE, the visa application process can begin. After you receive your visa notice, you will need to upload a copy and your flight details to the online acceptance portal. You will then receive access to our onboarding system myOrientation prior to your intake date

    Domestic candidates need to meet any conditions of the offer by the due date and will receive access to our onboarding system myOrientation within two weeks of your intake date. This will help you set up your mygriffith access and provide you with important introductory information.

    If you are enrolled in a program with coursework component, you will then need to enrol in the relevant courses for the trimester. 

    Candidates receiving a stipend scholarship should receive their first payment in the first full pay cycle from their intake date, subject to submission of completed stipend from prior to the date specified in the letter of offer.

    Stipend scholarships are paid at the same value to domestic and international recipients and are paid according to the scholarship awarded, not the residency status of the recipient.
     
    However, as international students are full-fee paying, they are required to either apply for a tuition scholarship or request funds from their industry partner to cover tuition fees. Griffith Industry PhD Scholarships may cover international tuition fees where the industry partner is unable.

    Yes, you can apply for multiple HDR scholarships, however, some have a limit on the amount that can be received from another scholarship. For example, Commonwealth scholarships generally have a limit of one Commonwealth scholarship per student. Please check the conditions of the relevant scholarship via the HDR scholarships page.
