    Blue cards

    If you work or volunteer in regulated child-related roles or run a regulated child-related business in Queensland, you may need a blue card.

    You can check your eligibility and apply for a blue card on the Queensland Government website. You can also use their website to learn processing times and application costs.

    Answer

    Blue Card Services will process your application once you have applied for a blue card. Most blue card applications with no criminal history or other concerning information are processed within 28 business days and the blue card will usually arrive by post up to 21 days after the application has been approved.

    Introduction

    Before you apply for a blue card:

    • check your eligibility
    • validate your identity
      • Blue Card Services works with the Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) to verify your identity and obtain the photo for your blue/exemption card
      • you need a customer reference number (CRN) and photo from TMR before you can apply for your blue card
    • if you don't have a CRN, or if your photo was taken more than six years and 11 months ago, you will need to visit a TMR service centre

    Instructions

    1. Apply for the blue card online.
      1. when applying, you will receive an account number
    2. Notify Griffith University of your Blue Card approval
      1. Education students only
        1. Email pst@griffith.edu.au
        2. Include your blue card account number, full name, date of birth, student number and the degree you are studying
      2.  Health students only
        1. Email ffpobluecards@griffith.edu.au
        2. Include your blue card account number, full name, date of birth, student number and the degree you are studying
      3. Other students
        1. Complete and submit the Notify Griffith University of your Blue Card Services@Griffith form.
    3. You will be notified via SMS or email of the successful link with the university. You will then be able to complete and submit your online blue card application.
      1. there is no fee for a student blue card.

    Once you have applied for a blue card, Blue Card Services will process your application.     How do I renew my blue card?

    Answer

    Yes. If you already have a blue card, you will need to notify Griffith to link your blue card account with the university.

    Education students can email their blue card account number, full name, date of birth, student number and certified copy of your identification to pst@griffith.edu.au.

    Health students can email your blue card account number, date of birth, student number and the degree you are studying to ffpobluecards@griffith.edu.au.

    Other students need to submit the Notify Griffith University of your Blue Card Services@Griffith form.

    You will be notified if a certified copy of your identification is also required.
