STUDENT SERVICES

What can we help you find?

    Terms and conditions

Permits are only available for purchase by active Griffith University staff, students and select contractors and tenants.

The number of permits issued is restricted according to the type of permit and information obtained from regular parking and student attendance surveys. Despite this careful approach, there may be occasions at peak times when a person with a permit may not be able to find a parking space; in these instances, it may be necessary to wait a short time until a parking space becomes available.

    Frequently asked questions

    Answer

If you have received a parking infringement at Griffith University, you have three options:

    • Pay the fine by the due date shown on the infringement notice
    • Apply for a waiver if you believe the infringement was issued in error or you have grounds for it to be waived
    • Elect to have the matter heard by a court if you wish to formally contest or dispute the infringement

Contesting or appealing a parking infringement

If you want to challenge, appeal, dispute, or contest a parking fine, the available options are a waiver application or electing for court. Parking infringements are not subject to the Student Review and Appeals Policy - that process applies only to academic and administrative decisions.

Full terms and conditions are outlined on the reverse of the physical infringement notice. For more information, visit the Parking Fines webpage.

    Lost your infringement notice?

If you have lost the infringement, lodge a Parking Enquiry with your vehicle registration, and the Parking Administration team can provide the infringement details.

    Answer

Parking permits are available for all our campuses, except at Brisbane City (South Bank).

There are many different permit types including general, undercover, and special permits.

A permit allows you to park on campuses within the zones the permit is valid for.

We provide a limited number of Annual and Trimester permits each period and are available on a first come, first served basis until the allocation is exhausted. If no more allocation remains look for an alternative permit that is available or refer to the casual parking on campus.

You can find more information about parking permits on the Parking permits webpage.

Parking regulations apply on the Logan, Gold Coast, Brisbane South (Mt Gravatt), Brisbane South (Nathan) and Brisbane City (South Bank) campuses and are enforceable seven days a week under the Griffith University Act 1998. The State Penalty Enforcement Regulation 2014 provides for penalties ranging from 1/2 to 3 penalty units for parking and speeding offences on site. All penalties are enforceable through the Queensland Justice System. A typical penalty imposed by the court for an unpaid breach can be up to $280 or four days imprisonment. (1 penalty unit = $172.70 at 1 July 2026)

A valid virtual parking permit is required to park a vehicle, motorcycle or bicycle (unless the motor cycle is parked in a motor cycle zone or bicycle in a bicycle zone) on site for any period between the hours of 8am and 7pm Monday to Friday (except as signed and on Public Holidays) on Brisbane South (Nathan), Brisbane South (Mt Gravatt), Logan and Brisbane City (South Bank); 7am to 11.30pm, Monday-Sunday on Gold Coast campus.

The purchase of a permit does not exempt drivers of vehicles from receiving Notices of Alleged Breach. It is the holder's responsibility to ensure you have entered and changed vehicle details (if needed) accurately and park legally when on campus. Please note that:

    • a permit holder is only eligible to hold one parking permit
    • a permit can only hold one active Registration
    • permits belong to the user who bought the permit. Permits cannot be transferred.
    • If you need to change a vehicle registration for any reason, for example, your vehicle is in for service, and you have a loan car or you sell your car, you are required to update the details to have a valid permit while parking on campus. Updates can be completed by managing your parking permit at the Griffith ePermits Parking Portal.
