Whether you are a current student or new to Griffith, making an appointment with us is your first step to success.
Types of appointments
- Face to face - Meet with us in person at your preferred campus.
- Video - You can request a video appointment, which we conduct via Microsoft Teams.
- Phone - We will call you on your contact number listed in myGriffith.
Documentation
Before your first appointment with us, you'll need to provide recent supporting documentation from a health practitioner that outlines:
- the nature of your disability, injury or medical condition
- the impact your disability, injury or health condition may have on your studies
- the impacts of your medication, if you are taking any.
The documentation must be presented on letterhead and be signed, dated and legible.
Alternatively, you can you can download the Supporting Documentation Form below for your health practitioner to complete.
You'll also need to complete the Release of Personal Information Form to confirm you understand Griffith's Privacy Statement and when and why we may be required to release personal information or may use non-identified data collected through our service.
Our staff maintain confidentiality and privacy with respect to your documentation and information.
If you have a learning disability, please also provide recent results (up to three years old) of comprehensive diagnostic testing from an appropriate practitioner.

If you do not have recent, comprehensive test results for your learning disability, contact your GP or Griffith's Health and Medical Service for a referral to an appropriate practitioner for an assessment.
Griffith’s Psychology Health Clinics at Brisbane South (Nathan) and Gold Coast can also provide assessments for learning disabilities.

New to Griffith?
If you are new to Griffith and do not have a student number and Griffith login, please contact us to make an appointment.
Booking an appointment online
If you have a Griffith student number and password, you can book your appointment online via the Student Support and Griffith International Services portal:
1. Click Schedule an Appointment.
2. Click Student Support.
3. Click Student Disability and Accessibility.
4. Select the type of appointment you would like, either:
- Face to Face for an on-campus appointment
- eContact for phone or video appointments.
5. Select the date and time of your appointment.
6. Click Confirm to book your appointment.
Requesting a video appointment
If you have booked an eContact appointment and would like to meet via video using Microsoft Teams, email us at disability@griffith.edu.au the date and time of your booked appointment and we will send you a Teams meeting invite.
You can either bring your supporting documentation and signed Release of Personal Information Form along to your first appointment or email these to us beforehand at:
Confidentiality and disclosure
In accordance with the University's Privacy Statement, Student Disability and Accessibility will not discuss or release confidential information about you without your written permission to do so, with the following exceptions:
- when required by law
- where there is significant risk to you or another person
- where disclosure is inherent in the nature of the contact (for example, you are seeking assistance gaining employment or you are seeking assistance with arranging disabilities support).
We also understand that in some circumstances you may require a partner, parent/guardian, or carer to contact us on your behalf.
You can discuss the process for this at your initial interview.
Disclosing your disability to others at the university is a personal decision and completely up to you.
