What can we help you find?

    Your steps to graduation

Getting ready to graduate is an exciting time! To make sure you are well prepared for the occasion, learn about the eligibility criteria and the steps that apply to your particular study mode.

Your eligibility to graduate is in accordance with the Graduations Procedure, which includes completing all program requirements and:

    • having a verified Unique Student Identifier (onshore students only)
    • not having any overdue fees or charges
    • not having any overdue library items
    • having completed the mandatory Academic Integrity module (excluding those studying via Open Universities Australia).

The award will not normally be conferred if one or more of these conditions is not met within 10 years of study being completed, unless the student can demonstrate exceptional and/or compassionate circumstances, subject to approval.

These will stop you from graduating, even if you have completed your program requirements.

It can take up to three business days from the time of payment/library return for the hold to be removed from your graduation record. Please check myGriffith to view any outstanding balances, noting the following must be checked by phone:

    • Library: +61 7 3735 5555
    • Accommodation: +61 7 3735 7575

    Name

Your degree certificate will be printed with your legal name as shown in your myGriffith > My details. This name must match the name recorded in the Unique Student Identifier registry (onshore students only).

If you need to officially update your name, you must submit a Change of personal details form and supporting documentation at least three business days before our deadline to be approved for graduation (refer to the appropriate table under the Your steps to graduation heading in the left menu).

If you need to update your name in the Unique Student Identifier registry, you need to do this before you submit a Change of personal details form and supporting documentation.

A fee will apply to reprint your degree certificate if you submit your request after the deadline.

    Contact details

If you graduate in a non-ceremony round or choose not to attend in a ceremony round, please ensure the following are up to date by the deadline to be approved for graduation (see below) to assist timely delivery of your degree certificate:

    • Your mailing (postal) address, not just your home address
    • Your preferred email address
    • Your daytime phone number, particularly for overseas addresses.

Testamurs (degree certificates) returned due to incorrect address details will incur a fee to be re-sent.

Your testamur will be sent via registered post (within Australia) or international courier (overseas).

Your computing access will change on the day your award is conferred.

If your award is conferred in a non-ceremony round, your access will change before you are invited to a graduation ceremony.

Learn what changes will happen on your conferral day and make sure you save files before your conferral day from your student H: drive, Google drive and Office 365 OneDrive if you want to keep them.

If you choose to complete your program by doing courses at another institution, please be aware the other institution may not release results in time for you to meet our eligibility deadline.

Please contact the Student Connect Centre at the other institution to find out when they will release their results so you can compare them with our dates.

You'll also need to find out how quickly you can get an Official Academic Transcript (including an explanation of results) from the other institution because you will need to submit this document with your Credit for Prior Learning application at least two days before our deadline to be approved for graduation (refer to the appropriate button below).
