    Vada Jefferies Prize

    The Vada Jefferies Prize is awarded to a Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University (QCGU) student completing Performance Study (Strings) for the best performance in solo Bach.

    The prize is valued at approximately $100 and was established by the Department of Education from public donations raised to honour the late Vada Jefferies.

    Applications close on Friday 18 April 2026 at 4pm.

    To be eligible for this prize, you must be:

    • a Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University student

    • completing Performance Study (Strings).

    • Competitors are required to perform a programme of two movements of solo Bach.

    • Adjudicators to be appointed by the Head of Area: Strings.

    • Adjudicators can nominate up to 10 finalists.

    Preliminary Round

    Competition date: Monday 27 April 2026

    Time: 7pm

    Venue: Ian Hanger Recital Hall

    A maximum of five minutes' music will be heard in the preliminary round.

    Final Round

    Competition date: Tuesday 28 April 2026

    Time: 7pm

    Venue: Ian Hanger Recital Hall
