What can we help you find?

    Manage your enrolment

Find out how to swap class times, drop a course, and explore your options if classes are full, restricted, or you need to enrol late.

If you receive a 'full class' message that prevents you from enrolling in a specific class, continue on and enrol in another available class.

In certain circumstances, you may request permission to enrol in a full class.

See full class information for more details.

You can swap your enrolled class time to another available time without dropping your course enrolment.

For example, if your preferred class time becomes available.

For the majority of programs, you can swap classes until the end of Week 2.

    To swap a class

    1. Login to myGriffith
    2. Select My program from the main menu and click the red Manage enrolment button
    3. Click the green Manage enrolment button on the Student Centre
    4. Click Select classes, then select the new class time you wish to attend
    5. Click the Enrol button to complete the change of class time. If you've successfully swapped your class time, a green tick and the ‘Enrolled’ status will be displayed against the course.

After the end of Week 2

If you want to swap a class time after Week 2 of trimester, you'll need to complete an online request to add/change course enrolment form. There is no late fee for changing class times.

You can drop a course, without receiving academic or financial penalty, up until the census date.

    To drop a course:

    1. Login to myGriffith
    2. Select My program from the main menu and click the red Manage enrolment button
    3. Click the green Manage enrolment button on the Student Centre
    4. Click the Select classes tab at the top of the page
    5. Click the Drop course button next to the course you wish to drop, then confirm your decision.

If you've successfully dropped a course, a red cross and confirmation message will appear next to it.

If you're an international student on a student visa, you must make an appointment with an International Student Advisor to discuss how a reduced study load will affect your student visa.

    After census date

If you want to drop a course after the census date, it's important to understand the effect it will have on your official academic transcript and the associated fees.

If you drop a course after the census date but before the final date to withdraw without failure, you will incur financial liability for the course. This will be recorded as a Withdrawal grade on your academic transcript but won't be counted in the calculation of your Grade Point Average.

If you drop a course after the final date for withdrawal without failure, you'll incur financial and academic liability for the course. This will be recorded as a Withdrawal with Failure grade on your academic transcript and will affect the calculation of your Grade Point Average.

If your study was adversely affected by special circumstances, you may be eligible to apply for withdrawal without penalty. Visit Withdrawal due special circumstances for more information.

Restricted courses have enrolment constraints, such as:

    • a limit to the number of students who can enrol
    • a minimum GPA requirement
    • an acceptable reason for undertaking the course.

Before applying to enrol in a restricted course, please keep in mind:

    • It's your responsibility for ensuring the course will count towards your degree requirements.
    • Restricted courses will usually only count as elective courses. You can't undertake more restricted courses than the total number of electives that are permitted within your program requirements.
    • You're only allowed to undertake a restricted course in the program in which you're enrolled. You can't continue to undertake restricted courses in hopes you'll graduate from a different program.

To enrol in a restricted course:

Complete an online request to add/change course enrolment form and attach any supporting documentation.

If you are an honours student, you'll need to to attach a letter stating the reason for enrolling in the course.

For the majority of programs, you can add courses to your enrolment until the end of Week 2 each trimester.

To find out the last date to add a particular course:

    1. Go to Programs and Courses.
    2. Search for your course.
    3. Select the term, campus and mode of study.
    4. View the last date to add course under 'Key Dates'.

Eligibility to enrol after the last date to add a course has passed

    • You may be eligible to enrol in a course after the last date to add a course has passed if exceptional circumstances prevented you from enrolling on time. Exceptional circumstances are those considered beyond your control. A lack of understanding of Australian Government legislation or University policy is not considered to be beyond your control.
    • OUA students are not eligible to enrol in a course after the last date to enrol has passed. If you're an OUA student, please email your Senior Student Connect Officer at oua.programsupport@griffith.edu.au if you require more information.
    • If you are studying in a Six-Week Teaching Period program, please contact your Student Support Team.

To add a course after the last date to add a course has passed:

    1. Check the course profile to ensure no assessment is due within five days from the date you'll submit the below form
    2. Complete a request to add/change course enrolment form
    3. Attach documentary evidence of the exceptional circumstances that prevented you enrolling on time
    4. Pay the required fee before lodging your application.

Please note: Enrolment after the census date is only allowed in the case of administrative error and requires the consent of both the student and the course convenor. In addition, full fee-paying students will be required to pay tuition fees before approved courses can be added to their enrolment.
