    Griffith’s five campuses are easily accessible to students, staff and visitors through public transport. We also encourage the use of sustainable transport, including the University’s shared transport options, cycling, walking and public transport or video conferencing options to reduce the number of trips.

    If you are attending classes at different campuses and travelling by car, the following minimum travel time is recommended between:

    • Gold Coast and Logan: One hour
    • Gold Coast and Brisbane South (Nathan): Two hours
    • Gold Coast and Brisbane City (South Bank): Two hours and 15 minutes
    • Logan and Brisbane South (Nathan): One hour
    • Logan and Brisbane City (South Bank): One hour and 15 minutes
    • Brisbane South (Nathan) and Brisbane City (South Bank): One hour.

    It is your responsibility to plan your timetable around your availability to attend your timetabled classes.

    You can access each of our physical campuses either via train, bus, car, taxi, bicycle or on foot. Our digital campus is accessible from anywhere with a reliable internet connection.

    Brisbane South (Nathan) is well connected to major transport routes with buses arriving frequently.

    Taxis and other ride hailing services like Uber can be accessed.

    No there is no Student or Staff parking at the Conservatorium

    However, there are several excellent public transport options available.

    You can:

    • Catch a bus to the South Bank Busway Station
    • Travel by train
      • South Bank Railway Station is directly behind the Queensland College of Art (QCA) on Grey Street
    • Walk to Brisbane City (South Bank) from the nearby Brisbane CBD. 
      1. cross the river via the Goodwill Bridge (footbridge) or the Victoria Bridge (go past the Performing Arts Centre and follow the Grand Arbour south through to the end of South Bank Parklands).

    There is also the South Bank car park, Secure Park and Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre car park in walking distance of the Conservatorium. These are private car parks that all offer different rates depending on what time of day you enter and how long you stay. Griffith University has no affiliation with these car park operators.

    Sustainable Development Goals

    Griffith University is aligned with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals ( SDGs ) and is committed to tackling global challenges around good health.

    Our commitment to sustainable commuting

    Griffith University set targets (and measurements) for more sustainable commuting to campus in 2023 in our Sustainability Strategy 2023-2030.

    As documented in our Sustainability Strategy 2023-2030, from 2025, we’re aiming for an annual increase of five per cent over baseline year (2024) in the uptake of public transport usage, carpooling, and sustainable commuting transport such as e-scooters and (electric) bicycles. 

    • Public transport use is measured through Queensland Government Translink PT performance dashboard
    • Carpooling is measured through our carpooling applications
    • E-scooters and bicycle use is measured through access to end-of-trip facilities and secure storage facilities monitoring 

    Highlights from 2024 include:

    • 2,942 carpooling trips were undertaken via the app.
    • 1,483 vehicles were removed from campus.
    • 3,680kg of CO2 emissions were saved.
    • 45 per cent increase in end-of-trip-facilities.

    Throughout 2024, Griffith undertook a range of actions to promote more sustainable commuting.

    This included expanding our sustainable transport programs. Carpooling via Liftango saw 215 new users, 2,942 matched trips (up 181 per cent from 2023), and 3,693kg of CO2 emissions avoided (up 84 per cent).

    Shared micromobility services began in February 2024, with Lime and Neuron operating at select campuses.

    End-of-trip facility use unfortunately decreased by 45 per cent in 2024. However, to review this and other initiatives, a sustainable transport working group was established to promote more sustainable commuting amongst staff and students.

    Gold Coast

    Centrally located west of Southport and north-west of Surfers Paradise, our Gold Coast campus is easily accessible by bus and tram. The Gold Coast light rail is also referred to as "the G" and can be booked via Translink through the Tram option.

    Centrally located at Meadowbrook, Logan links to the nearby Loganlea train station which makes access easy and affordable.

    Brisbane South (Nathan)

    A 20-minute drive south-east of the Brisbane CBD , the campus is easily accessible by public transport.

    Brisbane City (South Bank)

    Brisbane City (South Bank), set among the South Bank Parklands, is only a quick five-minute walk from the train and busway stations.

    Reduced public transport fares

    Public transport fares are a 50 cent flat rate, across all zones and modes on the Translink network across Queensland.

    Pedestrian priority on campus

    Griffith prioritises pedestrian access on our campuses, with most areas being pedestrian only. This ensures our campuses are walkable, accessible, and enjoyable, meaning staff, students and community do not need to compete with other modes of transport while on our campuses.

    When you arrive on campus, access is via pedestrian access-ways and pedestrian crossings. Griffith also provides End-of-Trip Facilities across our campuses, with guides and route planners available for cyclists.

    Light rail at the Gold Coast

    Griffith worked with government to have two Gold Coast Light rail stations installed adjacent to the campus.
