    We see your ability and are committed to your study success.

    At Student Disability and Accessibility, we support students with disabilities, injuries, and physical & mental health conditions who are studying through Griffith University, Griffith College and Open Universities Australia. We also aim to improve participation, retention and success of students with disabilities, including access to learning environments.

    Who we support

    We support students who have:

    • neurodiverse conditions such as autism, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), dyslexia and auditory processing disorders
    • hearing impairments
    • temporary injuries such as broken or sprained limbs, or who are recovering from surgery or injury
    • medical conditions such as epilepsy, arthritis, diabetes, multiple sclerosis, neurological conditions, and chronic pain
    • mental health conditions such as anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder
    • mobility issues such as back injuries, spinal cord injuries, musculoskeletal injuries
    • vision impairments.

    Whether your disability, injury or health condition is permanent, temporary, episodic or fluctuating—or even if you feel your disability or condition is under control—it is good to talk to us about your options for support while studying.

    Who we are and how we help

    Our team comprises disability advisors and accessibility resources staff who seek to remove barriers that students with disabilities face in higher education.

    Arranging an appointment with us and supplying the required documentation is your first step to success.

    Once we understand your particular needs, we can assist with adjustments such as:

    • formatting learning materials
    • providing access to assistive technologies, Auslan interpreting or note-taking services
    • arranging alternative exam conditions.

    We can also refer you to other support services at the University.

    Answer

    Griffith University has free parking in designated disability bays for people who hold an Australian disability parking permit or Red disability parking permit. Griffith follows the same parking rules for people with disability permits as listed on the Qld Government website.

     

    You can check our parking maps in our Parking webpage to locate the general areas our disabled permit bays are located on our campuses.

    If you are registered with Student Disability and Accessibility, your accessible conditions will be provided to ProctorU and your Course Convenor to ensure that your exam is set-up correctly.

    Student Disability and Accessibility supports students with a disability, injury or health condition with a range of customised supports to assist students with reasonable adjustments in the study environment.

    You can view a range of services available to assist you with successfully undertaking and completing your studies on the Student Disability and Accessibility webpage.

    Student Disability and Accessibility supports all students with a disability and/or health condition studying online, in person and on campus.

    You can visit the Student Disability and Accessibility webpage to make an appointment for a discussion through Microsoft Teams or phone. Student Disability and Accessibility have a range of services to help you successfully undertake your studies.

    Auslan users can email our Deaf Student Support Program on deafstudentsupportprogram@griffith.edu.au to make an appointment or discuss their needs. Our Deaf Student Support Senior Disability Advisor is Auslan proficient.

    Other students can make an appointment online with any of our Senior Disability Advisors who can discuss your needs and the range of supports available. Visit the Student Disability and Accessibility webpage to book an appointment.
