Find out more about decisions that can be reviewed under the Student Review and Appeals process.
Decisions matter to you and the University as they affect your experience as a student. Griffith University tries to create a learning environment and culture that supports productive learning; however, it’s acknowledged that at times you may not agree with an academic decision made in relation to your studies or an administrative decision in relation to you as a student. We want your experience at Griffith University to be positive. You have a right to let us know of concerns about the decisions we make.Â
When seeking a review or appeal of a decision it's helpful to refer to the policy and procedures which inform the process. These include the schedule of decisions that can be reviewed and appealed (for specified decisions) and the associated timeframes.
Students must informally contact the decision-maker (as noted in the decision outcome) in person or in writing to obtain an explanation of the decision, check any additional information and correct any misunderstanding.Â
If the matter cannot be resolved informally students may request a review of the decision to the relevant review officer using the Review of Decision FormÂ
After the Pre-Review and Review steps, if the student is still dissatisfied with the outcome and there is an appeal option available, students can submit an appeal by completing a new review of decision form and selecting the appeal option. Check which decisions have an appeal step in Section 3.6 of the Student Review and Appeals Procedure.Â

Can I request a review or appeal against exclusion for academic performance?
If you do not conduct your studies at Griffith University honestly, ethically and in accordance with the accepted standards of academic conduct, you may be at risk of misconduct. There are two types of misconduct:
Student misconduct refers to behaviour by students—whether academic or non‑academic—that violates institutional codes, disrupts the learning environment, or undermines the integrity, safety, and expected standards within an educational setting.
Griffith University will take strong action if you are found to have engaged in misconduct, and this may result in your exclusion from further study.
For more information, refer to the Student Charter and Academic Integrity webpages.
You can also refer to the Student Academic Integrity Policy and the Student Conduct, Safety and Wellbeing Policy, which clearly outline the principles and procedures for addressing misconduct.
