    Grandfathered student contribution bands

    Learn more about your student contribution amount.

    Commonwealth supported students are charged a student contribution amount for each enrolled course.

    Courses are allocated to a student contribution band according to their discipline. The student contribution amount for a course is calculated by multiplying the EFTSL value of the course by the student contribution amount per EFTSL .

    Here you can find information on grandfathered student contribution bands.

    Who will be charged the grandfathered rates?

    You will be charged the grandfathered student contribution rates if you were a Commonwealth supported student in relation to a course in your program at any time before 1 January 2021 and you either:

    • commenced a program before 1 January 2021, and did not complete the program by 31 December 2020
    • completed your program and commenced another program (honours) that relates to the earlier program and leads to a higher education award that is an honours program
    • were undertaking an enabling program in 2020 and, on or after 1 January 2021, you commenced another program that is leading to a higher education award
    • were undertaking a program leading to a higher education award that is an undergraduate certificate in 2020 and, on or after 1 January 2021, you commenced another program (the higher qualification program) that relates to the undergraduate certificate program and is leading to a higher education award that is a bachelor program.

    Note 1. Clinical Psychology courses that contribute to the Master of Clinical Psychology (5070, 5279) will be charged at Student Contribution Band 1, and for all other programs, will be charged at Student Contribution Band 2A.
