Paganini Prize
Open to Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University students with classical violin, viola or guitar as their performance study, this competition calls for a performance of a virtuoso study of Paganini.
The prize is valued at $50. The donor is A (Bep) Torkington.
Applications close on Friday 15 May 2026 at 4pm.
The prize is open to Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University students enrolled in either a full-time or part-time program at the Conservatorium with classical violin, viola or guitar as their Performance Study.
Competitors are required to play a virtuoso work of Paganini (excluding the concertos) lasting no longer than 10 minutes.
The aim of the competition is to encourage excellence in performance.
There is to be only one winner of this prize, and if the standard required by the panel is not reached, no award will be made.
The adjudicating panel is to consist of as many of the string staff, both full-time and part-time, at the Conservatorium.
