The Unique Student Identifier (USI) is a reference number made up of a combination of ten numbers and letters. Your USI is used to connect your student loan information to your personal details. You are required to provide a USI via the Pre-Enrolment Questionnaire to study at Griffith.

Your legal first name, last name and date of birth need to match exactly between Griffith University and the USI Registry. If they do not match, then your USI cannot be verified. You need a verified USI to:

    • be eligible for a Commonwealth Supported Place (CSP)
    • be eligible for Commonwealth financial assistance (HECS-HELP, FEE-HELP, OS-HELP and SA-HELP)

    Explanation

    Commonwealth Supported Students

Your tuition fees depend on the courses you choose, as each course falls under a specific government-designated discipline (student contribution band).

The indicative fee represents the estimated average cost for a typical first-year full-time study load (80 credit points or 40 credit points for certificate programs). Actual tuition fees may vary based on your choice of courses, majors, electives, and any approved recognition of prior learning.

Please note that the indicative fee is based on current conditions and available data and should only be used as a guide.

The Australian Government sets student contribution amounts annually, and they may be subject to increases.

You can find more information on student contribution bands on the Student Contribution Amount webpage.

    Fee-Paying Students

The indicative annual tuition fee is based on a standard full-time annual study load (80 credit points or 40 credit points for certificate programs) and should be used as a guide only.

Actual tuition fees for international fee-paying students may vary depending on the year you begin your studies and the year in which you enrol.

Please note that actual tuition fees for domestic fee-paying students may vary depending on the year in which you enrol.

Tuition fees are reviewed annually and are subject to change.

You can find more information on the Paying your fees webpage.

    Instructions

If you have been offered a place in a Griffith University program but don't want to start straight away, you may be eligible to defer your commencement for up to 12 months, given it is prior to the census date of your commencing Trimester.

Please note that some programs do not allow deferral. You can learn if you are eligible to eligible and how to apply on the Taking a break from study webpage.

    Answer

The Doctor of Medicine (MD) is a graduate entry four-year extended Masters (AQF level 9) program. Applicants are encouraged from all degree backgrounds. However, the most popular first degree choices are also the most recommended with these being in science and allied health disciplines like:

    • Biomedical Science
    • Health Science
    • Pharmacy
    • Nursing and/or Midwifery
    • General Science with a major in Chemistry, Biology or Physics
    • Dentistry, Paramedical, Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy.

High achieving current year school leavers looking to pursue a career in medicine may also be interested in applying for Griffith's Bachelor of Medical Science as an accelerated pathway into medicine. This is a three year fulltime equivalent program that has a very limited number of places that is delivered in an intensive mode over two years.

Alternatively, because we accept and encourage graduates from all disciplines, you could apply for and complete any degree program. On completion of your degree you would be required to sit the GAMSAT exam and apply for entry to the MD via GEMSAS.
