    Casual parking

    Casual parking is a great option for staff, students and visitors who prefer to come and go as they please.

    Payment can be made via the PayStay App which allows you to pay directly from your phone, to identify the zone you are in, the eight-digit zone codes are located on the campus parking maps and on car park signage.

    Payment is also available with Credit Card or Debit Card at the Pay-by-Plate parking machines available across campuses.

    Payments can also be made at the Touch & Go parking meters located at our Nathan and Gold Coast campuses. These meters support NFC and QR code payments—simply tap your phone or scan the QR code to access the online payment portal. From there, you can purchase a casual permit to your vehicle registration. No account or sign-up required.

    Please note that there is no parking available at Brisbane City (South Bank).

    Parking charges vary depending on your type of parking permit or if you're paying for casual parking.

    Annual and Trimester Parking Permit prices (Valid as of 2025)

    • Annual General permits = $436.83
    • Annual Multistorey permits = $873.61
    • Trimester General permits = $145.62
    • Trimester Multistorey permits = $291.20
    • Casual parking starts from $2/hour

    Instructions

    1. Download the PayStay mobile app from your mobile device's App store.
      1. note: the Paystay app is available on Android and Apple
    2. Register your details on the app or via phone 1300 322 111.
    3. Add/select the vehicle number plate.
    4. Enter the PayStay zone code.
    5. Select Next.
    6. Review all details on the Create Ticket screen.
    7. Press Start to begin the parking session.
    8. Press Stop when you leave. 

    It is recommended that you allow notifications for the app so you can receive reminders when the zone time limit is approaching.

    Introduction

    Before paying for your parking, double-check you have parked in the correct zone for the period of time you need. 

    Need to stay all day?

    Avoid parking in green 2P (two-hour) zones. 

    Instructions

    1. Enter the registration of your vehicle.
    2. Select Ok.
    3. Use left/right arrows to choose your length of stay.
    4. Press Ok.
    5. Make your payment.
      1. note: you can either insert your card into the card reader slot or tap-and-go
      2. note: your payment has been successfully registered when you reach the E-Receipt screen
    6. If required, generate an E-Receipt number.
      1. note: you can retrieve your E-Receipt online

    You can pay for casual parking through the PayStay App or the pay-by-plate parking machines available across campuses.

    The PayStay app enables you to pay for casual all-day or two-hour zoned parking through your mobile device. 

    Pay-by-Plate parking machines are a ticketless system available through machines located across Griffith's Brisbane, Logan, and Gold Coast campuses. Please note that they are EFTPOS payment only and accept both physical and digital cards.

    Parking at Brisbane South (Mt Gravatt) is open-air only.

    No there is no Student or Staff parking at the Conservatorium

    However, there are several excellent public transport options available.

    You can:

    • Catch a bus to the South Bank Busway Station
    • Travel by train
      • South Bank Railway Station is directly behind the Queensland College of Art (QCA) on Grey Street
    • Walk to Brisbane City (South Bank) from the nearby Brisbane CBD. 
      1. cross the river via the Goodwill Bridge (footbridge) or the Victoria Bridge (go past the Performing Arts Centre and follow the Grand Arbour south through to the end of South Bank Parklands).

    There is also the South Bank car park, Secure Park and Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre car park in walking distance of the Conservatorium. These are private car parks that all offer different rates depending on what time of day you enter and how long you stay. Griffith University has no affiliation with these car park operators.

    Casual parking zones and pricing

    Casual all-day metered zones are available on Brisbane South (Nathan), Brisbane South (Mt Gravatt) and Logan, as well as two-hour metered zones.

    Casual all-day metered parking zones are available at Gold Coast campus across the University bridge via Griffith Way. Casual parking zones are available on the main side of campus after 4pm, with two-hour metered zones off Theatres and Business Lane. Carpark G offers casual all-day parking at a fixed rate of $10 per day for the Gold Coast Hospital and Knowledge Precinct, staff, students and visitors.

    Light purple

    Pay by the hour ($2 per hour max $6 per day)
    This zone is available for all-day casual parking at Gold Coast, Logan, Brisbane South (Mt Gravatt) and Brisbane South (Nathan).

    After 4pm - Gold Coast

    Dark purple

    Pay by the hour ($2 per hour max $6 per day)
    This zone is applicable to Gold Coast campus only. This zone is available for casual parking after 4 pm at Gold Coast campus.

    Payment can be made via the PayStay app or at pay-by-plate machines located on campus.

    Two-hour casual metered

    Green

    $2 per hour (max 2 hours)

    This is a 2-hour only metered parking zone and is distinguishable by dark green line markings. Payment should not be made for more than 2-hours when parked in this zone.

    Paying for casual parking

    Payment can be made via the PayStay App which allows you to pay directly from your phone, or by EFTPOS at the Pay-by-Plate parking machines available across campuses.

    PayStay App

    The PayStay app enables you to pay for casual all-day or two-hour zoned parking without having to use the Pay-by-Plate machines on campus. Using the app means that you only pay for the time you park on campus, press ‘stop’ only when you have returned to your vehicle to leave campus.

    To identify the PayStay zone you have parked in, the eight-digit zone codes can be found on the parking maps or on car park signage.

    Pay-by-Plate parking machines are a ticketless system with no need to return to your car to affix a paper ticket. Before paying for your parking, double-check you have parked in the correct zone for the period of time you need. If you want to stay all day, avoid parking in green 2P (two-hour) zones.
