The leave of absence application process varies depending on the type of student you are.
A leave of absence is only available to current students who have completed at least one trimester of study. If you are a new student and would like to commence your studies at a later time, please refer to the information on Deferral. If you are a domestic student enrolled in an honours program, you will need to follow the honours process.
We will email you (via your student email account) before your approved return date  with information about how and when you can enrol again.
You're also welcome to return to your studies earlier than you have been approved leave for. Simply contact us and let us know your student number and the trimester you'd like to resume your studies.
Once your request has been approved, you will receive confirmation via your Griffith student email account.
You can apply for a leave of absence more than once if your request for further time off falls within the maximum period of allowed leave for your program. The outcome of your request will be sent to your student email account.
Please note that if you are an international student, you need to consider how this will impact on your visa conditions.

Answer
Most scholarships allow for one leave of absence only for a period of up to one year. If there are exceptional circumstances involved, more leave or another leave of absence may be granted. You can notify the Scholarships and Prizes Office through scholarships@griffith.edu.au if you take a leave of absence.

Answer
Domestic students may be able to apply for a Leave of Absence within the maximum time to complete their program for up to four standard trimesters per request.  International students may request a Leave of Absence for a maximum period of up to one trimester per request to ensure completion of the program within the expected duration of study (CoE). Discontinuation of enrolment or requests for a period of leave of absence may affect your international student visa. You can make an appointment to see an International Student Advisor for assistance with applying for a Leave of Absence.  Note: Leave of Absence does not apply to single course of study, the Head Start Program or cross-institutional study programs. You must cancel your enrolment. Please refer to back on course for further information on cancellation.  See Leave of Absence for further information.
