    Connect on campus. Wi-Fi access for visitors.

    Access free Wi-Fi for visiting guests who do not have a Griffith Wi-Fi account or an eduroam participating institution account.

    Answer

    When on campus at Griffith, you can configure your device to use the Griffith University Wi-Fi network. The Eduroam network is available on campus to people visiting Griffith from other educational institutions. All other visitors may access our Public Wi-Fi.

    You can connect to Griffith University Wi-Fi networks using a computer, smartphone, or tablet.

    Visit our Getting Connected page and select your operating system for step-by-step instructions on how to connect. 

    To connect to the Eduroam wireless network visit our Eduroam support page, click on your operating system and follow the instructions to configure your device. 

    To connect to the Griffith Public Wi-fi, visit the Public Wi-Fi support page and follow the instructions.

    If you are still unable to connect to the Wi-Fi network, contact the IT Service Centre for assistance.

    Answer

    Yes. The public can register for a free account to use while on campus.

    Users with a Griffith University account or visiting from another educational institution should use the "Griffith University" and "Eduroam" Wi-Fi networks respectively.

    Introduction

    Griffith provides free internet access for visitors via the Griffith Public Wi-Fi network.

    The Griffith Public Wi-Fi:

    • is free and available for visiting guests to register and use
    • is valid for 12 months from registration date
    • has a maximum 10Gb usage limit - the account is disabled when this limit is reached
    • may be speed limited to 2Mbps
    • blocks access to the Griffith portal, Learning@Griffith and other internal resources
    • available at all Griffith campuses.

    Instructions

    1. Go to the Wi-Fi settings of your device.
    2. Select Griffith Public Wi-Fi from the list.
      1. after selecting Griffith Public WiFi, it will appear under the section Current network 
    3. Select Griffith Public WiFi to continue.
    4. Fill in the required fields in the Public Wi-Fi Registration fields.
    5. Click Register to submit.
      1. you will receive an email or SMS with your registration and login details.

    Access, availability, costs

    The Griffith Public Wi-Fi network gives access to the Internet and personal email, similar to a hotel or airport hotspot service.

    The Griffith Public Wi-Fi network

    • is free and available for visiting guests to register and use

    • is valid for 12 months from registration date

    • has a maximum 10Gb usage limit and the account is disabled when this limit is reached

    • may be speed limited to 5Mbps

    •  blocks access to Griffith portal, Learning@Griffith and other internal resources

    • can be used by attendees of a conference held at a Griffith campus, who are not affiliated  to Griffith

    • available at all Griffith campuses
